No time to waste today... I have to get down to serious studying, else I am definitely going to flunk :( I get up early and directly hit the study material. For morning juice I have a carrot, beetroot, cucumber juice which I find quite filling and start studying.
After a about an hour or so I happen to check my WA and on my school group I get to know that a very dear teacher has passed away. I had been meaning to call upon her for such a long time and I didn't because of my busy schedule. I get very very disturbed. One phone call is all it takes, but we forget so many people we love as we get stuck in our meaningless routines and keep procrastinating on making that call or meeting them comfortable in the thought that we will do it just the next weekend or tomorrow and forgetting that life may never give you a chance :'( Quite a bit of time then goes in reading and responding to the deluge of messages the WA group and getting my shaken mind to get back to studies.
I had prepared for an interesting salad in the morning (with some inspiration from my friend Cherry of notwithoutmyskillet.in) I tweek the ingredients depending on what I have at home. Let's call it the Lettuce and Orange Salad. So here is the recipe of my modified version of her salad
The Travelling Foodie's Lettuce and Orange Salad
Ingredients:
Romaine Lettuce - 1 bunch cleaned and chopped
Orange - Thinly sliced
Onion- Vertically sliced and marinated in lemon salt and pepper powder
A bunch of Microgreens
Mint - Finely chopped
Pomegranate Seeds
For Dressing:
I squeeze orange juice out of half an orange
Maple syrup - 1 tbsp
pepper powder
Salt to taste
1 tsp Vinegar
Method: Marinate the onion a couple of hours before you are going to eat the salad. Mix rest of the ingredients when you are just about to have the salad. Mix all dressing ingredients in a katori and drizzle on top of the salad.
I have this with aamras. Yeah I know the aamras is getting a bit repetitive but what to do, Mango is my favourite fruit and I have decided to take full advantage of it this summer as I am allowed to eat as many as I want in my raw diet.
By evening my mind is screaming out for Pav Bhaji... so much so that I almost order it. But decide to call S. One screaming from him shuts me down and I settle down for a couple of katori's of the loyal bhadang. I have it with a glass of Aam Panha and get back to studying again. I nibble on some dry fruits when I get hungry at around 9 pm, study some more and retire around midnight.
