Captured early morning at Imbiong base during the Namdapha forest trek in Arunachal Pradesh
As I stood watching this peaceful sunset, I was jolted out of my trance and ran for my camera cause I realized the rays of the setting sun have turned the equally peaceful river into molten lava, giving the whole landscape a completely surreal feel!
Majuli is the biggest river island in the world and a home to some very resourceful people! This photo was clicked before sunrise when most of the people of this beautiful land were already on their way to work... Can you see the boat filled with people in the background? The fishing boat at the centre, and the poles which hold the nets in place make a pretty frame and though this picture is monochromatic due to the early morning mist and lack of light, the refection is what makes it interesting
Nestled in the Kashmir valley en-route to the Amarnath cave, is the Sheshnag lake. This is at an altitude of almost 12000 ft above sea level and frozen almost through the year. There is a brief 2 1/2 months window when you can visit it. Even during summers, it remains half frozen! Legend says that Sheshnag (the snake-God) still dwells in it. I don't think I had see a place that could instill a feeling of serenity and peace in my heart this instantly. I was in complete awe!
This valley is covered in snow almost all round the year. The seeds of innumerable species of flowers wait for around 10 months for the ice to melt and to bloom again into an enchanting garden at 13000ft high in the Himalayas, and nature lovers from all around the world come to experience this magic... You should too! By the way, the Valley of Flowers starts where the path ends in the picture.
FOOD IS SO MUCH A PART OF EVERY CULTURE!! Over the generations, every land and race has developed its own cuisine which is unique to that place. In the pic is traditional Assamese food served in their traditional metalware.
